GCC Chief Emphasizes Support for Food Security Amid Global Crises

Munich: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Jassem Al-Budaiwi emphasized the need to support food security and humanitarian aid in light of escalating crises globally and regionally. Al-Budaiwi's remarks were made during a meeting with Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the UN World Food Program, on the sidelines of his participation in the 61st session of the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the meeting addressed the UN WFP's efforts to provide aid to countries grappling with starvation and a lack of food security. The discussion also covered various programs and initiatives aimed at rehabilitating food security. The GCC Secretariat highlighted that both parties explored ways to enhance collaboration in the fields of humanitarian aid and food security.

The discussions underscored the necessity of unified efforts and increased international initiatives to tackle the challenges associated with delivering humanitarian and relief aid. Al-Budaiwi acknowledged the crucial role played by the UN WFP in providing urgent assistance.
