Trump Welcomes UNSC Resolution for Temporary International Force in Gaza

Washington: US President Donald Trump welcomed late Monday the UNSC's passing of Resolution 2803 (2025), which allows for the creation of a temporary international force that would maintain peace in the Gaza Strip and help avoid the return of war to the Palestinian enclave.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Trump expressed his congratulations in a Truth Social post, stating, "to the World on the incredible Vote of the United Nations Security Council, just moments ago, acknowledging and endorsing the board of peace, which will be chaired by me, and include the most powerful and respected Leaders throughout the World." He emphasized the significance of the resolution, saying, "This will go down as one of the biggest approvals in the History of the United Nations, will lead to further Peace all over the World, and is a moment of true Historic proportion!" Trump also mentioned that further details about the Board's members and additional announcements would be made in the coming weeks.

The UNSC passed the resolution by 13 votes in favor and none against. China and Russia, permanent members of the council, abstained from voting.
