Trump Urges Congress to Approve Annual Federal Funding

Washington: US President Donald Trump has urged Congress to pass the annual federal funding to secure the financial status for the rest of the financial year ending on December 30. His call comes a week ahead of the forecasted depletion of temporary finances, which were endorsed by Congress last December to avert a federal government shutdown, highlighting the administration’s partial inability to honor its financial liabilities.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Trump, in remarks on the “Truth Social” e-platform, warned that government funding would soon run out, with Democrats allegedly seeking to shut down the government. However, he pledged to work with Republicans to fund the government and gain more time to work on his agenda.

The former president, Joe Biden, signed a short-term funding bill on December 21, 2024, to avert a national government closure. Two weeks ago, Congress passed a budget bill incorporating tax cuts, border security measures, and reductions in public expenditures.
