Washington: US President Donald Trump on Thursday expressed gratitude to the State of Kuwait for its substantial financial contribution to the Board of Peace. He made this announcement during the first meeting of the Board, highlighting that Kuwait, along with several other nations, has pledged over USD 7 billion to support the relief package.
According to Kuwait News Agency, President Trump emphasized that "every dollar spent" is an investment in the stability and hope for "a new and harmonious Middle East." He also revealed that the United States would contribute an additional USD 10 billion to the Board's efforts.
During his address, Trump spoke on the potential of the United Nations, affirming its importance. He stated, "I think the United Nations has great potential, really great potential. We're going to make sure the United Nations is viable, and you have some very good people at the United Nations who can do a good job."
The US President also discussed the commitment of various nations in providing ground support in Gaza. He noted that Albania, Kosovo, and Kazakhstan have pledged troops and police to help stabilize the region. Furthermore, Egypt and Jordan are offering significant assistance, including troops, training, and support for a reliable Palestinian police force. Trump expressed optimism about the quality of personnel being integrated into this force.
Earlier in the meeting, Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Al-Sabah announced a USD-one-billion contribution to back the Board's initiatives.
