Trump Praises New Chapter in US-Venezuelan Relations as “Extraordinary”

Washington: US President Donald Trump on Thursday described relations with Venezuela as "extraordinary", noting that he has developed a strong rapport with the country's new leadership.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Trump expressed his satisfaction with the current state of US-Venezuelan relations on the Truth Social platform. He emphasized his positive dealings with President Delcy Rodriguez and her representatives, highlighting that significant financial resources, unavailable for many years, would soon benefit the people of Venezuela.

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright is currently on an official visit to Venezuela, engaging in discussions with senior officials and executives. His visit, centered on energy policy, marks the most high-profile American diplomatic engagement in Venezuela in nearly three decades. This visit includes a commitment to fostering a new era of economic partnership between the two countries.

Earlier this month, the United States announced the lifting of previous restrictions on transactions involving bonds issued by Venezuela's state-owned oil company, PDVSA, which took effect on March 20. This move is seen as a step toward strengthening economic ties.

On January 5, the United States conducted a military operation in Venezuela that led to the capture of President Nicol¡s Maduro and his wife, who were subsequently taken to the United States. Following this operation, Trump declared Washington's intention to take control of Venezuela, including its oil sector, aiming to rebuild it through affiliated companies and facilitate sales globally to countries including Russia and China.
