Trump Imposes Tariffs on Six More Countries

Washington: US President Donald J. Trump announced on Wednesday the imposition of a new round of tariffs on six countries, including Algeria, Libya, and Iraq, effective from August. According to Kuwait News Agency, in a series of letters sent to these nations since Monday, President Trump detailed that tariffs ranging from 20 to 30 percent will be applied to Algeria, Iraq, Libya, Brunei, Moldova, and the Philippines. The tariffs on imports from Algeria, Libya, and Iraq are set at 30 percent, while those from Brunei, Moldova, and the Philippines will face a 52 percent tariff. President Trump justified these measures by citing a significant trade deficit with the aforementioned countries.
