Trump Hosts Peace Council Meeting Announcing Billions Pledged for Gaza Reconstruction

Washington: On Thursday, a Peace Council meeting on Gaza was hosted by US President Donald Trump, with participation from the State of Kuwait among other council member states.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Kuwait was represented by Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Al-Sabah. Discussions at the meeting focused on Gaza's reconstruction, governance arrangements, security frameworks, and humanitarian assistance following the recent ceasefire agreement.

The host country confirmed participation from more than 20 states, including Arab nations such as Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.

Ahead of the meeting, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that President Trump would reveal pledges exceeding USD 5 billion dedicated to humanitarian efforts, Gaza reconstruction, and support for security and stabilization forces. She indicated that these pledges represent a significant step toward realizing the president's vision for rebuilding Gaza and achieving lasting stability.

The Peace Council, established after the Gaza ceasefire, aims to promote peace in the territory, coordinate humanitarian assistance, and support recovery efforts through international cooperation and sustained financial commitments.
