Kuala lumpur: US President Donald Trump left Malaysia on Monday after attending the 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, which will continue until October 28. Trump participated in the 13th ASEAN-United States Summit and observed the signing of a peace agreement between Thailand and Cambodia. During his time in Malaysia, Trump conveyed optimism about the possibility of the US and China reaching a trade agreement soon.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Trump is now en route to Japan and then South Korea, where he will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. During the APEC Summit, he is expected to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Meanwhile, senior officials from China, Brazil, Canada, and the European Council, along with 11 ASEAN member states, continue their participation in the summit, focusing on discussions related to potential economic and trade agreements.
Additionally, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) meeting is anticipated to take place, involving ASEAN members, China, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea. This grouping accounts for roughly 30 percent of the global GDP, making it the world's largest commercial bloc.
