Washington: US President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that the Israeli occupation has agreed to the terms of a proposed 60-day ceasefire in Gaza and warned Hamas to accept the deal before the situation deteriorates further. The announcement came just days before Trump is set to host the Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday for high-stakes talks aimed at ending the ongoing conflict.
According to Kuwait News Agency, during the two-month truce, "We will work with all parties to end the war," Trump stated in a Truth Social post. This development emerged from meetings held by top US officials in Washington with visiting Israeli occupation Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer.
Trump indicated that Qatar and Egypt will be responsible for delivering the final proposal to Hamas. "I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this deal because it will not get better, it will only get worse," Trump wrote.
The proposal for a temporary ceasefire has been a topic of discussion for several months. Talks have stalled primarily due to disagreements over post-truce terms, with the Israeli occupation insisting on retaining the ability to resume fighting, while Hamas seeks to make the temporary truce permanent.
