G7 Nations Push for Stability Amid Tensions Between Iran and Israeli Occupation

The hague: The G7 Foreign Ministers have reiterated their support for a ceasefire between the Israeli occupation and Iran, emphasizing the need for all parties involved to refrain from actions that could further destabilize the region. According to Kuwait News Agency, the Foreign Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, along with the High Representative of the European Union, convened in The Hague on June 25, 2025. In a press release, they discussed recent developments in the Middle East and expressed their collective stance on the ongoing conflict. The statement highlighted the G7's endorsement of the ceasefire announced by US President Trump and acknowledged Qatar's significant role in facilitating the agreement. The ministers expressed solidarity with Qatar and Iraq following recent strikes by Iran and its allies on their territories, and they welcomed efforts in the region aimed at stabilization and de-escalation. The G7 underscored that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons and urged the country to halt its enrichment activities. They called for the resumption of negotiations to achieve a comprehensive and verifiable agreement addressing Iran's nuclear program. Additionally, they emphasized the urgency for Iran to fully cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and to provide necessary information and access to IAEA inspectors. The statement also condemned any threats against IAEA Director General Grossi and reiterated the importance of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). The G7 emphasized the necessity for Iran to adhere to its obligations under the treaty to ensure global nuclear non-proliferation.
