Washington: US President Donald J. Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy canceled a joint press conference at the White House following a verbal altercation during their meeting in the Oval Office.
According to Kuwait News Agency, President Zelenskyy departed without signing the minerals agreement or continuing discussions on a peaceful settlement to the conflict in Ukraine. Trump commented on the meeting, stating, “We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today.” He further shared on his Truth Social account that the dialogue was intense and revelatory, noting, “Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure.”
Trump expressed concerns about Zelenskyy’s readiness for peace negotiations, particularly with US involvement, stating, “It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations.” Trump emphasized his desire for peace without seeking an advantage, adding, “I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace.”
