Kuwait City: Thailand's Ambassador to Kuwait, Ekapol Poolpipat, has praised Kuwait for its significant humanitarian contributions and ongoing support in international forums and organizations aimed at promoting global peace. The ambassador shared these remarks during a speech at a ceremony hosted by the Thai Embassy to celebrate Thailand's National Day. The event was attended by Kuwait's Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs, Ambassador Sadiq Marafi, along with several heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations in Kuwait. According to Kuwait News Agency, Ambassador Poolpipat highlighted Kuwait's crucial involvement in assisting vulnerable nations through its active participation in international and regional organizations, guided by its balanced foreign policy. He acknowledged Kuwait's significant role in the Asia Cooperation Dialogue and welcomed its recent accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) in September 2023. The ambassador reiter ated Thailand's support for Kuwait's potential partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and expressed a strong desire to enhance bilateral relations. Furthermore, Ambassador Poolpipat emphasized the importance of high-level visits between the two countries and expressed anticipation for the first joint consultative meetings between their Foreign Ministries to be held in Thailand soon. He noted the longstanding educational and tourism ties between Kuwait and Thailand, mentioning that Kuwait hosts hundreds of Thai students through academic scholarships. He also revealed that Thailand is a favored destination for Kuwaiti tourists, with approximately 79,000 visiting last year to experience Thai culture, atmosphere, and cuisine. The ceremony also paid homage to Thailand's National Day, which coincides with Father's Day and celebrates the birth of the late ninth King of Thailand, Bhumibol Adulyadej, who passed away in 2016.
