“Tamkeen” Announces Winners of “Enough” Award on International Women’s Day

Kuwait City: The International Organization for the Empowerment of Women and Capacity Building (Tamkeen), in partnership with the National Center for the Prevention of Community Violence, announced Yemen’s SOS Foundation for Development, Qatar’s Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (AMAN), and Kuwait’s Lothan Youth Achievement Center (LoYAC) as winners of the “Enough” award. This award recognizes the best initiative to confront violence against women in the Arab world, in its inaugural session in 2025.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the head of “Tamkeen,” Ibtisam Al-Qaoud, stated that the award aims to honor individuals and institutions that have provided innovative solutions to protect and empower women against various forms of violence, including physical, psychological, economic, and social. The award will be an annual event to support sustainable efforts in backing women and combating violence against them.

The first edition of the award is patronized by Dr. Fayza Al-Khorafi, a notable figure in the Arab world known for her dedication to education. Al-Qaoud highlighted Dr. Al-Khorafi’s lifelong commitment to serving educational causes.

Dr. Yacoup Al-Kandari, head of the arbitration committee, explained that the selection of winners was based on the effectiveness of their initiatives in addressing issues facing women in the Arab world. The comprehensiveness of the initiatives was also a key factor, as they addressed multiple aspects of challenges facing women. The winners are seen as honorable models of humanitarian and community work in the region.

Kuwait’s LoYAC received recognition for its economic program designed to empower women economically by training them to establish small enterprises that generate income.

The official festival to honor the winners will take place in April, coinciding with a major event.
