North waziristan: At least eight security personnel lost their lives in a suicide blast in Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province, which borders Afghanistan, officials reported on Saturday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, a statement from the office of KPK's chief minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, confirmed that eight security personnel were "martyred" in a suicide blast in the North Waziristan tribal district of KPK. A senior police official, DPO Waqar Ahmed, informed the media that the suicide attack, executed using a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device, also left four civilians injured.
Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, a security operation in KPK's South Waziristan resulted in the deaths of at least two Pakistani army soldiers and 11 militants, highlighting the volatile situation in the region.
Pakistan is experiencing an increase in terror activities, particularly in the provinces of KPK and Balochistan, both of which share a border with Afghanistan.
