Sugarcane in Upper Egypt: A Living Legacy Captivating Generations

Riyadh: Sugarcane stands as a living testament to the farmer's patience, embodying Upper Egypt's deeply rooted heritage. Each year, farmers await the sugarcane harvest with anticipation, turning it into a major economic and cultural event that celebrates the year's hard work and is affectionately called "Farmers' Day."

According to Saudi Press Agency, Qena, Luxor, and Aswan are among Egypt's most productive sugarcane regions, with 300,000-350,000 feddans (approximately 125,000-145,000 hectares) yielding 15-17 million tons annually, thanks to favorable environmental and climatic conditions.

The sugarcane harvest provides income for thousands of Upper Egypt families and traditions passed down through generations. Harvesting brings communities together, reflecting cooperation, solidarity, and cultural heritage.
