Khartoum: The Sudanese Army announced the withdrawal of its troops from the strategic "triple border" area with Libya and Egypt. This move comes amidst reports of advances by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and forces loyal to Khalifa Haftar, the commander of the Tobruk-based Libyan National Army (LNA). According to Kuwait News Agency, the Sudanese Army's evacuation of border outposts near Libya and Egypt is part of defensive strategies to counteract the joint aggression from the RSF and LNA. Sudanese army spokesperson Brig-Gen. Nabil Abdallah emphasized this in a press release, noting that the Libyan forces have advanced three kilometers into the Gabal El-Oweinat mountain range in northwest Sudan. The RSF has claimed control over the contested area and expressed their intention to continue offensive operations against Sudanese regular troops. Brig-Gen. Abdullah accused Haftar's forces of direct involvement in the ongoing Sudanese conflict, alleging their cooperation with the RSF in launching attacks. "The cross-border operation constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and a clear infringement on Sudanese sovereignty," Abdullah stated, denouncing the actions of the Libyan forces. In response, the Libyan forces have denied these accusations, asserting that their border patrols have been consistently attacked by Sudanese forces.
