Kuwait city: Spain’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Manuel Hernandez Gamallo, highlighted the flourishing relations between Spain and Kuwait during a celebration at the Spanish embassy in Kuwait to mark their National Day. Ambassador Gamallo emphasized the deep and solid foundations of their bilateral ties, which are based on cultural affinities and people-to-people relations.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the ceremony was attended by significant figures including Kuwait’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense, Abdullah Meshal Al-Sabah. A large number of diplomats and representatives of international organizations in Kuwait were also present. Ambassador Gamallo noted key actions taken this year to expand bilateral relations, including the Spanish-Kuwaiti Joint Economic Committee held in Kuwait last May. This event attracted many economic operators from strategic fields related to Kuwait’s Vision 2035.
Ambassador Gamallo mentioned ongoing efforts to establish several agreements aimed at increasing Spanish companies’ contributions to Kuwait’s progress. He also expressed anticipation for the next round of bilateral political consultations, expected in the coming months. Additionally, he highlighted that nearly 50,000 people traveled from Kuwait to Spain this year, facilitated by more open visa regulations to the Schengen area, making the process smoother.
The ambassador expressed Spain’s admiration for Kuwait’s role in defending international law and contributing to humanitarian causes globally. He congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jabber Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti people for successfully managing the GCC rotatory Presidency and organizing the GCC-European Union High Level forum and ministerial meeting.
On Middle Eastern issues, Ambassador Gamallo pointed out that Spain was among the first countries to recognize the Palestinian state and support the people of the Gaza Strip. He reiterated Spain’s commitment to advocating for a just peace based on the United Nations Charter principles and its ongoing efforts in the Global alliance for the Implementation of the Two State solution.
