Madrid: Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares emphasized the need for coordinated international efforts to recognize Palestine as an independent state, enhance the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and ensure regional stability. He made these remarks on Sunday, ahead of the "Madrid+" summit. According to Kuwait News Agency, Albares highlighted the participation of 20 countries, including Arab and European nations, alongside international organizations like the Arab League and the European Union, as well as other major global players. The summit's two main objectives are ending the conflict and lifting the siege to allow unconditional humanitarian aid access, and creating a pathway for the two-state solution to recognize Palestine as a sovereign nation. Albares remarked that the countries congregating in Madrid share a common belief in peaceful resolutions despite their diverse regions and religions, rejecting violence as a means of interaction between Palestinians and Israelis. Additionally, he noted t hat Spain would address several issues, notably the suspension of partnerships between the EU and Israel, and the prohibition of arms trade unless hostilities in Gaza cease.
