Madrid: Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Alvarez on Thursday affirmed that his nation rejects coercive expulsion of the civilians from Gaza and remains committed to the two states' settlement to the Middle East crisis.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Spain robustly rejects expulsion of the civilians from Gaza, the minister said in a statement broadcast by the official television, adding that Madrid supports sanctioning any party that seeks to undermine the aspired two states' solution to the issue.
Spain maintains its relations with the Israeli entity for the same reasons it abstains from severing the ties with Russia; for the two sides should be part of a peaceful solution, he said.
The Spanish Government declared recognition of an independent Palestinian state in May last year and hosted in September a conference on the two states' solution. The conferees, including officials from Arab and Islamic states, had declared that the two states' settlement is the sole avenue for ensuring just peace and security in the Middle East.
