Spain-Hosted Forum Stresses Two-State Solution as Key to Mediterranean Prosperity

Madrid: Participants in the 10th Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean emphasized that the prosperity and growth of the Mediterranean region depend on achieving a two-state solution between the Palestinians and Israelis. This consensus was articulated during a press conference by key figures, including Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi, Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean Nasser Kamal, and EU Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Suica.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Albares stated that peace in the Middle East is contingent upon providing a just solution for the Palestinian people. He committed Spain and the European Union to work with all relevant parties to implement the two-state solution. Kallas highlighted that the dire situation in Gaza was a primary topic of discussion at the forum. She condemned ongoing settlers' attacks in the West Bank and called for an end to these assaults and accountability for the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, Al-Safadi called for coordinated efforts to maintain the cease-fire in Gaza, ensure aid access to Gazans, and support Palestinians in maintaining their presence in their homeland. He stressed the importance of working towards a two-state resolution to the conflict.
