Madrid: Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares declared on Friday that his country has airdropped 12 tons of humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip, describing the situation of starvation there as a "shame" on humanity.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Albares noted that an A400 military plane was used to drop 24 parachutes, each carrying 500 kilograms of foodstuffs, to help alleviate the suffering of civilians in the region. This effort is part of Spain's broader mission to provide relief to those affected by the ongoing conflict.
Albares also called on Israeli authorities to permanently open crossings into Gaza to allow the unrestricted entry of aid. He emphasized the need for the international community to take urgent action to end the starvation crisis and to work towards establishing a permanent ceasefire in the region.
Furthermore, the Spanish minister urged countries around the world to swiftly recognize the state of Palestine, affirming Spain's strong support for Palestinian rights. He concluded by reiterating Spain's commitment to pursuing justice and peace in the conflict-ridden area.
