Kuwait city: Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila affirmed the ministry's keenness on promoting the use of sign language to open wider horizons for persons with hearing disabilities.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Ministry, in collaboration with the Public Authority for Disabled Affairs and relevant bodies, is supporting initiatives and training programs to achieve these aims. In a press statement marking the International Day of Sign Languages, Al-Huwaila emphasized that sign language is not merely a tool for communication, but rather a bridge connecting hearts and minds, embodying society's commitment to the rights of all its members without exception.
She highlighted that observing this day reflects Kuwait's firm belief in empowering persons with hearing disabilities and ensuring their full participation in social, educational, and professional life. Al-Huwaila underlined that individuals with hearing disabilities possess creative talents and capabilities that deserve support and care, urging society to spread a culture of respect for diversity and enhance the status of sign language as a universal human language.
