Riyadh: Shura Council Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh held a session of official talks today with Speaker of the People's Majlis of the Republic of Maldives Abdul Raheem Abdulla at the Shura Council headquarters in Riyadh. This meeting was part of the Maldivian speaker's official visit to the Kingdom, accompanied by a delegation from the Maldives People's Majlis.
According to Saudi Press Agency, at the outset of the session, Al Al-Sheikh welcomed the Maldives People's Majlis Speaker. He highlighted the comprehensive development renaissance across various fields in the Kingdom under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. During the session, Al Al-Sheikh reviewed the Shura Council's mechanisms of work, emphasizing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting and strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in ways that serve the shared interests of the two countries.
The Maldivian speaker expressed his thanks and appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality, asserting that the visit reflects the depth of the historical and fraternal ties between both countries. He commended the Kingdom's role as a partner to the Maldives, as well as its support under various circumstances and its contribution to development and growth. Additionally, he praised the services and facilities provided by the Kingdom to pilgrims, reflecting its mission.
The session also covered ways to enhance cooperation in various fields, particularly in the parliamentary domain. The discussions explored broader prospects for cooperation between the two countries, aiming to serve mutual interests and strengthen ties between the two peoples.
