Severe Storms and Tornadoes Cause 27 Deaths in US Midwest and South

Louisville: Severe storms and tornadoes in the Midwest and South have resulted in the deaths of at least 27 people over the weekend, with Kentucky being the hardest hit, losing 19 residents.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the US Weather Channel reported that extreme weather conditions are expected to persist from the Plains to the Ohio Valley. It emphasized the ongoing threat to millions of Americans across the Plains, South, and Midwest, with dangerous weather conditions anticipated through at least midweek.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Storm Prediction Center has issued a Level 4 out of 5 risk for severe storms on Sunday, which will be followed by a Level 3 out of 5 risk on both Monday and Tuesday. This indicates a continued high-risk weather scenario for these regions.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear confirmed the tragic loss of life in a post on X, stating, "We have lost 19 people to this weather event." The governor's announcement highlights the severe impact of the storms on the state, which bore the brunt of the devastation.
