Cairo: The Arab League's Committee of Senior Arab Officials on Nuclear and other Weapons of Mass Destruction commenced its 66th meeting on Monday, with Kuwait actively participating.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the meeting, which spans three days, was opened by Dr. Khaled Manzlawiy, the Arab League's Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the International Political Affairs Sector. The agenda includes discussions on preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and coordinating Arab positions. A key focus is on preparing for the 2026 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the upcoming 70th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Dr. Manzlawiy highlighted the significance of these discussions, particularly in monitoring Israeli nuclear capabilities and establishing unified Arab positions in international forums dedicated to disarmament and non-proliferation. The meeting was chaired by the United Arab Emirates and saw the participation of representatives from various Arab member states.
