Islamabad: At least 13 militants were killed in security operations in Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and southwestern Balochistan provinces, as reported by the military.
According to Kuwait News Agency, a press release by Pakistan military's media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), stated that security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Kalat District of Balochistan province, targeting militants linked to "Indian proxy."
During the operation, security forces engaged the militants' location, resulting in the death of four "Indian sponsored terrorists," ISPR reported. "Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered from the terrorists, who were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area," the statement added.
Additionally, a joint operation took place in the Malakand district of KPK province, based on reports of militant presence, as confirmed by the military. Over four days, security forces surrounded and engaged the terrorists' location, culminating in the death of "nine Indian sponsored" militants and the apprehension of eight others, according to ISPR.
ISPR further noted that two hideouts used by militants were dismantled, and a substantial quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered. These operations followed a recent joint security operation in the Hangu district of KPK, where nine militants were killed and three security personnel were injured. Pakistan has been experiencing a surge in terror attacks, particularly in the KPK and Balochistan provinces bordering Afghanistan.
