SDRPY Hosts Yemen Partners Group Meeting with International Stakeholders in Riyadh

Riyadh: The Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen (SDRPY) hosted a significant meeting of the Yemen Partners Group (YPG) in the city. The meeting was co-chaired by the Yemeni government, the United Kingdom, and the World Bank, and included participation from the United Nations and various international organizations.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting was attended by key figures such as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Yemen and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Shaya Mohsin Zindani, United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, and Saudi Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen and SDRPY Supervisor General, Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber. The gathering also included several ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, and donor entities.

During the meeting, the Yemeni Prime Minister delivered a speech expressing confidence in the new government's priorities, which aim to strengthen stability and economic recovery. He highlighted the importance of projects and initiatives provided by Saudi Arabia through SDRPY, which support essential sectors and enhance development efforts across Yemeni governorates. Dr. Zindani also expressed appreciation to Saudi Arabia for its ongoing support and praised SDRPY's role in empowering national institutions.

Hans Grundberg emphasized the significance of Saudi-led development projects, particularly during the current stage, and noted improvements in Yemen's energy-sector stability. Additionally, United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, Julien Harneis, discussed the humanitarian situation in the country.

Ahmed Ghaleb, the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, outlined the bank's priorities, emphasizing transparency, combating inflation, and the necessity for international coordination and support.

Ambassador Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber highlighted the importance of joint efforts to overcome challenges facing peace and development in Yemen. He stressed that the meeting was an important opportunity to align development and financial support with the Yemeni government's priorities.

The meeting also reviewed Saudi development projects worth SAR1.9 billion provided to Yemen in January. These projects contributed to energy-sector stability, ensured the operation of hospitals and vital service facilities, supported the educational process, and included other initiatives scheduled for the future.

Spain: Spain is participating in the World Defense Show 2026 with a dedicated pavilion featuring several prominent companies specializing in defense and advanced technologies. The pavilion showcases the latest Spanish innovations across sectors, including defense systems, sensors, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and missile technologies.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Spanish exhibitors drew strong interest from attendees, including senior officials and international experts in military and security affairs, underscoring the global appeal of Spain's technological advancements in the defense sector.

Organized by the General Authority for Military Industries, the World Defense Show 2026 is being held from February 8 to 12 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center in Malham. The premier event brings together more than 1,480 exhibitors from 89 countries, encompassing government entities and leading national and international companies.
