Riyadh: Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, speaking on behalf of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammad bin Salman, praised the French President's historic decision to recognize the State of Palestine, describing it as a reflection of the international community's commitment to justice for the Palestinian people.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Prince Faisal bin Farhan highlighted that the conference is taking place amid ongoing "brutal aggression" by Israeli occupation authorities, including violations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and repeated attacks on Arab and Islamic states' sovereignty, most recently against Qatar. He emphasized the importance of a two-state solution as the sole path to achieving a just and lasting peace in the region. The Saudi Foreign Minister reaffirmed his country's commitment to working with France and other peace-promoting nations to implement the conference outcomes. He expressed gratitude to countries recognizing or intending to recognize the State of Palestine and encouraged others to take this historic step.
The conference occurs as several countries have announced their recognition of the State of Palestine, with expectations for more to follow. This gathering underscores global consensus on a peaceful resolution to the conflict and calls for decisive international action towards implementing the two-state solution.
Last September, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution endorsing the New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian issue and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, with 142 countries supporting, 10 opposing, and 12 abstaining.
