Jeddah: The new Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, received congratulations from Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the occasion of his gaining the confidence of the member states and his election as Secretary General of the Organization. According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the Foreign Minister affirmed the Kingdom's unwavering position in providing absolute support to the General Secretariat and the new Secretary General. He stressed the Saudi leadership's keenness to support the organization's efforts to advance the course of joint Islamic action and develop its mechanisms in a way that serves mutual issues. For his part, Secretary General Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership, government, and people. He praised the generous patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin A bdulaziz, and his Crown Prince, Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for the organization and their continued support for its mission and activities. He highlighted the leading and pivotal role played by the Kingdom in bridging the divide and deepening the bonds of solidarity among Islamic countries. Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed stressed his full commitment to making every effort to consolidate the frameworks of cooperation and coordination among all member states and to achieve the aspirations of their peoples.
