Seoul: South Korea and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) held high-level talks in Seoul on Thursday to discuss ways to enhance cooperation on cybersecurity. The meeting marked a continued effort to bolster collaboration in addressing cyber threats.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the cyber dialogue was co-chaired by South Korean Ambassador for International Cyber Affairs Lee Tae-woo and NATO's Assistant Secretary-General for Cyber and Digital Transformation Jean-Charles Ellermann-Kingombe. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation against malicious cyber activities and assessing cybersecurity threats in both the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic regions. This dialogue is part of an ongoing initiative launched in 2023 to improve cybersecurity collaboration between the two parties.
In addition, earlier this week, South Korean Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back and Adm. Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, chair of the NATO military committee, agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in areas including cyber, defense, and military exchanges. This reflects a broader commitment to enhancing security measures and partnerships in various domains.
