Russia-Ukraine Reconciliation Talks Face Complexity

Moscow: The reconciliation negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are quite complicated, said the Russian Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday. Peskov indicated that Moscow is awaiting Ukraine's reply to the Russian draft plan for reconciling the conflict, which had been delivered to the Ukrainians during the last round of talks in Istanbul, Turkiye, earlier this week.

According to Kuwait News Agency, agreements that had been reached with the Ukrainian side were significant, with Peskov affirming that the accord "would be executed." However, he refrained from revealing further details. He also ruled out the possibility of a summit meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents in the near future.

Russian and Ukrainian officials have held two rounds of talks in Istanbul, which resulted in the release of prisoners from both sides. However, they could not reach a full and final deal. The United States has been pressing the two sides to end the war.
