Riyadh: Yuri Ushakov, Russia President Vladimir Putin's foreign affairs aide, emphasized on Monday Russia's readiness to engage in productive negotiations with the US in Riyadh concerning Ukraine, scheduled for Tuesday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the discussions between the US and Russia will aim to establish a mechanism to initiate negotiations for resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Ushakov shared these details in a briefing statement following his arrival in Riyadh.
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who is accompanying Ushakov, expressed the Russian delegation's intent to attentively listen to their US counterparts during the meeting in Riyadh. Lavrov indicated that the delegation would compile a report for the Russian leadership to assess the outcome of the talks and determine future actions.
Lavrov clarified that there would be no discussions of "regional concessions" for Ukraine as part of the settlement process. He further mentioned that the US could significantly contribute to resolving the Ukrainian conflict if it is genuinely committed to supporting a settlement.
