Russia: Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty with Iran Comes into Effect

Kuwait city: The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty" with Iran came into effect on Thursday, marking a new stage in bilateral cooperation.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the ministry stated that the agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between Russia and Iran in the political, economic, military, and cultural fields. The treaty is described as reflecting a deep strategic partnership between Moscow and Tehran.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Peskov signed the agreement in Moscow on January 17. The treaty seeks to extend cooperation between the two countries for a renewable period of 20 years.

The Russian and Iranian parliaments had previously ratified the agreement, which covers areas such as politics, economy, energy, defense, and culture. It came into force Thursday after the completion of constitutional procedures in both countries.
