Wana: At least two people were killed and 20 others injured when a remote-controlled explosive device detonated near a police vehicle in Wana Bazaar, located in the South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, northern Pakistan.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the explosion took place near Shakai Stand, as stated by Deputy Superintendent of Police Imranullah on Thursday. Unidentified assailants reportedly opened fire following the explosion, adding to the chaos.
The government-run Wana District Headquarters Hospital has confirmed the two fatalities and reported that among the 20 injured, 12 are in serious condition. In response to the incident, a significant number of security forces have been deployed to the area, and police are actively collecting evidence from the scene.
This attack follows closely on the heels of another incident in Balochistan province, where an improvised explosive device targeted a security forces vehicle, resulting in the deaths of at least three soldiers and four militants. Pakistan is currently experiencing an increase in terror attacks, particularly in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which share a border with Afghanistan.
