QatarEnergy and Petronas Ink 20-Year LNG Supply Deal for Malaysia

Doha: QatarEnergy has entered into a 20-year Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Petronas to supply Malaysia with two million tons per annum (MTPA) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) starting in 2028.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the agreement was formalized during a special ceremony in Doha, coinciding with the 21st International Conference and Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG2026). The signing was conducted by Qatari Minister of State for Energy Affairs, President and CEO of QatarEnergy Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, alongside President and Group CEO of Petronas YM Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Kamadjaja Aziz.

This agreement marks the first long-term LNG SPA between QatarEnergy and Petronas, highlighting the sustained confidence and trust between both entities. It emphasizes a mutual vision for a sustainable energy future and the reinforcement of bilateral cooperation.

Al-Kaabi expressed QatarEnergy's satisfaction with the new LNG SPA with Petronas, emphasizing their ongoing commitment to meeting Malaysia's growing energy requirements and supporting customers worldwide.
