Washington: Visiting Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Al-Thani and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio engaged in discussions concerning regional and international issues, focusing on the conditions in Gaza and Lebanon, alongside other subjects of mutual interest.
According to Kuwait News Agency, State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce highlighted the significant strategic partnership between the United States and Qatar, encompassing security and economic cooperation. The discussions also centered on shared efforts to tackle regional challenges in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.
Secretary Rubio expressed his gratitude for Qatar's role in securing the release of American citizens from Afghanistan. Bruce further stated that both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing security and stability in the Middle East and underscored the importance of increased collaboration on both bilateral and regional matters.
Additionally, Bruce noted that Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met with Qatari Minister of State Dr. Mohammad Al-Khulaifi in Washington, D.C. Their discussions included President Trump's forthcoming visit to Qatar and the significance of strengthening economic and commercial relations between the two nations.
