Qatar Clinches 10th Arab Handball Cup With Victory Over Bahrain


Kuwait City: Qatar’s handball team emerged victorious in the 10th Arab Handball Cup, defeating Bahrain 25-22 in a closely contested final held at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex. The match was characterized by its quick pace and strategic play from both sides, with Qatar leading 12-11 at halftime.



According to Kuwait News Agency, the second half saw Bahrain attempting to overturn the deficit, but Qatar maintained their momentum to secure the win with a final score of 25-22. The championship, hosted by Kuwait from May 5 to 11, concluded with Qatar being crowned champions.



Fadhel Al-Nimr, head of the Arab Handball Federation, lauded Kuwait’s capabilities in organizing the event, emphasizing that the country’s successful hosting reflects the support of its political leadership for sports. He expressed gratitude to Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Sports Bashar Abdullah, and other officials for their roles in the event’s success.



In a statement to KUNA, Talal Al-Otaibi, a member of the AHF’s Executive Bureau and the Kuwait Handball Association, praised the efforts of the organizers and the strong turnout from the audience. He commended the technical performances of the teams and thanked Minister Al-Mutairi and sports officials for their contributions.



On the final day, Kuwait secured third place by defeating Egypt 29-25, while Saudi Arabia and Iraq finished in fifth and sixth positions, respectively.
