Kuwait City: The 37th meeting of the GCC National Olympic Committees took place in Kuwait, led by Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee. The meeting focused on future sports collaborations and developments within the GCC region.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the council approved Kuwait’s bid to host the 2028 Gulf Youth Games and Qatar’s proposal to host the 2026 Gulf Games. Additionally, the UAE received the go-ahead to organize the first Sports Law and Management Conference in 2026.
The meeting placed significant emphasis on supporting women’s sports by endorsing a recurring Gulf Women’s Sports Hackathon. A new planning and coordination committee was established to oversee these initiatives, with an aim to foster international partnerships and specialized training programs.
The next council meeting is set for May 5, 2026, in the UAE, following an executive office session on May 4.
