Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday lashed out at the United States charging Washington with adoption of "hostile policies" that threaten regional stability. Speaking at a news conference on the margins of the forum, "Russia Calls," Putin criticized the US for using the US dollar as a global reserve currency. "Such an approach grants Washington unearned profits at the expense of other states," he argued. According to Kuwait News Agency, Putin also addressed the growing ties between Moscow and Tehran, expressing hope to work out a comprehensive strategic treaty with Iran during the forthcoming Iranian president's visit to the country. He highlighted the strengthening relationship with Iran as an important aspect of Russia's foreign policy. On the bonds with China, Putin emphasized that the Russia-Chinese partnership, particularly in the auto industry, is based on long-term foundations. This collaboration signifies a pivotal shift in Russia's economic alliances, underscoring the strategic im portance of the partnership. Putin also announced plans for Russia to carve out roads across the icy northern routes to aid in expanding external trade. He expressed regret over the withdrawal of the German auto giant Volkswagen from the Russian market, indicating the challenges Russia faces in maintaining key international business ties.
