Washington: US President Donald Trump has declared his intention to resume nuclear weapons testing, a practice that has been on hold since 1992. This decision comes in response to ongoing nuclear experiments conducted by countries like China and Russia.
According to Kuwait News Agency, President Trump made this announcement through a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Wednesday. The declaration was made ahead of his scheduled meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea, marking the end of his Asian tour. Trump stated, "Because of other countries testing programs, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis." He further emphasized that the United States holds the largest nuclear arsenal and that testing would commence immediately.
The announcement closely followed Russian President Vladimir Putin's disclosure of a successful test involving an underwater drone equipped to carry nuclear warheads.
