PLO Criticizes Israeli Shelter Efforts in South Gaza as Displacement Cover

Kuwait city: The chairperson of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Rawhi Fattouh, has voiced strong criticism against the Israeli occupation's recent announcement to provide tents and shelter equipment in the southern Gaza Strip. Fattouh claims that this move is merely a guise for a more extensive displacement plan.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Fattouh issued a press statement warning international organizations against participating in what he describes as a forced displacement agenda under the guise of humanitarian aid. He specifically mentioned that creating so-called humanitarian zones, including the 'Mirage Security Belt' in southern Gaza, is a tactic contributing to the displacement conspiracy.

Fattouh expressed his endorsement of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which has refused to engage in any initiatives that could lead to the forced removal of Gaza residents. He emphasized the interconnected nature of the current events in Gaza with ongoing issues in the West Bank and Jerusalem, such as arrests, incursions, and land seizures, which he sees as part of a broader policy of ethnic cleansing aimed at displacing Palestinians.

An earlier statement from the Israeli military revealed plans to relocate Palestinians from Gaza City to southern Gaza, a move that has faced significant international opposition. The plan includes the gradual evacuation of Gaza's residents, with expectations that current camps will not suffice, requiring the designation of new areas for the displaced population.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Eyal Zamir, has approved the plan's initial phase, which involves the relocation of approximately one million Palestinians, followed by controlling refugee camps in the central region of the Strip.
