PIC completes annual polypropylene factory maintenance

Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) completed on Wednesday the annual necessary preparations for the polypropylene factory maintenance, which is owned and managed by Kuwait, valued at 2.5 million KWD (USD 8.1 million).

In a press release, Deputy CEO for Manufacturing and Marketing at PIC, Hamad Al-Subaie said that this is the second factory maintenance, pointing out that the maintenance process will take a month, starting from January 20th.

Al-Subaie added that the company will use new techniques during the maintenance process, with a clear action plan to reduce costs and raise the operational and technical capacity of manufacturing cadres.

He also added that that the polypropylene factory achieved an operational efficiency at 97 percent and 101 percent of the approved production budget until last December, at a cost less than the approved budget.

He added that the company sold approximately 637,000 tons of urea and 37,000 tons of ammonia during 2022, adding that it entered the European and Central America’s markets.
