Beijing: China on Wednesday declared that four Philippine ships attempted to violate territorial waters around the island of Huangyan in the South China Sea, leading to a collision with a Chinese vessel. A spokesman of the Chinese coast guards stated that one of the three infringing ships approached the Chinese ship in a dangerous and non-professional manner while it was on routine patrol in the region. According to Kuwait News Agency, the Chinese side took precautions "according to the standing laws" to rein in the Philippine ship. The two nations have often engaged in such frictions in the contested waters.
