Paris: The French capital will host on Thursday the "Coalition of the Willing" Summit for Ukraine to ensure its security and stability. The summit will be led by French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, featuring the participation of Kiev allies to discuss the latest development in the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to Kuwait News Agency, a statement by the French Presidency affirmed that the summit aimed at bolstering peace efforts, including the one launched by the US, to achieve a strong and sustainable peace in Ukraine with European and Ukrainian interests considered for any possible peace process.
The Paris initiative, launched on February 17 and following discussions with British partners, aims at pinpointing operational options for peace in Ukraine. Participants will focus on boosting aid to Ukraine and providing long-lasting support to the Ukrainian military to ensure the region's security and stability.
The Paris summit comes a week after the European summit held in Brussels, which touched on peace negotiations between the US and Russia on the Ukraine war. Some 33 delegations, European leaders, Ambassadors from Canada and Australia, officials from the EU, and NATO will partake in the summit.
President Macron announced on Wednesday additional military assistance to Ukraine at EUR two billion (around USD 2.15 billion). Ukrainian President Zelensky emphasized the French military assistance's critical role in Kiev's war efforts, urging the international community to pressure Moscow to agree to an unconditional ceasefire.
