Islamabad: Pakistan and the United Kingdom engaged in discussions about the regional situation during a meeting between Pakistan's Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, and the UK's Foreign Secretary, Rt. Hon. David Lammy, in Islamabad.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the UK Foreign Secretary, during his official visit to Pakistan, met with the Prime Minister at the PM House in Islamabad. The meeting focused on reaffirming Pakistan's commitment to the ceasefire understanding with India. Prime Minister Sharif emphasized Pakistan's patience and restraint in response to India's accusations and aggression, highlighting that Pakistan's response to any provocation would remain measured and proportionate.
Prime Minister Sharif also expressed Pakistan's strong desire for peace in South Asia and its determination to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He conveyed his satisfaction with the positive development of Pakistan-UK relations and expressed a desire to enhance bilateral cooperation in various areas.
The British Foreign Secretary congratulated Prime Minister Sharif on the ceasefire agreement and affirmed the UK's intention to continue playing a constructive role in promoting peace and stability in the region. This visit by the UK Foreign Secretary follows an agreement between Pakistan and India to a full and immediate ceasefire, after a period of intense military exchanges that resulted in casualties among civilians and military personnel.
