Pakistan and Kazakhstan Forge 37 Agreements for Bilateral Cooperation

Islamabad: Pakistan and Kazakhstan on Wednesday signed 37 Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and agreements to promote cooperation across several fields during the visit of Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Islamabad.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the agreements encompass a wide range of sectors, including petroleum, mining and geosciences; maritime affairs, customs; railways; agriculture; Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development; health, education, science and technology, news exchange and broadcasting; information exchange and professional development; climate change and environmental protection; economy; culture and humanitarian collaboration; crime prevention and sports.

The two nations also finalized a treaty on extradition and a transit trade agreement. The Kazakh President met with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, at the Prime Minister House, where they held a one-on-one meeting. According to a press release by the PM Office, this meeting was succeeded by delegation level talks, with key cabinet ministers from both sides in attendance.

Pakistan and Kazakhstan further committed to a joint declaration for establishing a strategic partnership between the countries. This document was signed by Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif following their discussions.
