Muscat: Oman and India engaged in discussions on Monday to explore avenues for strengthening economic and investment cooperation in sectors such as technology, pharmaceutical industries, renewable energy, and infrastructure. According to Kuwait News Agency, this dialogue took place during a meeting between Omani Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion Qais Al-Yousef and Indian Minister of Industry and Supply Piyush Goyal. The meeting was part of the 11th session of the Omani-Indian Joint Committee held in Muscat. Both countries highlighted the significance of this session as a strategic platform to reinforce cooperation, with a focus on economic and trade achievements. They also stressed the need to expedite the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to enhance trade and investment between Oman and India. The officials acknowledged the robust economic ties between the two nations, noting that the trade volume in 2023 reached approximately OMR 2.05 billion, which is equivalent to over USD five billion.
