OIC Member States Condemn Israeli Official’s Visit to Somaliland

Kuwait: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that foreign ministers from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries have strongly condemned a visit by an Israeli official to the Somaliland region in northern Somalia.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the OIC ministers issued a statement recalling their previous joint declaration from December 27, 2025, and reaffirmed their firm rejection of the Israeli occupation's recognition of Somaliland. They denounced the illegal visit by the Israeli official on January 6 as a violation of international norms.

The statement was endorsed by the foreign ministers of countries including Jordan, Egypt, Algeria, Bangladesh, the Union of the Comoros, Djibouti, Gambia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Iran, Libya, the Republic of Maldives, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Turkiye, and Yemen.

The ministers emphasized that the visit infringed upon Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity and contravened international law and the UN Charter. They reiterated their support for Somalia's sovereignty and national unity, opposing any separatist agendas that could exacerbate tensions in the Horn of Africa.

The OIC ministers stressed the importance of adhering to international law, diplomatic norms, and non-interference in sovereign countries' affairs. They affirmed their support for any diplomatic and legal actions Somalia might take to protect its sovereignty, in line with international law.

The statement concluded by urging the Israeli occupation to respect Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, comply with international law, and immediately withdraw its recognition of Somaliland.
