OIC Chief Welcomes France’s Plan to Recognize Palestinian Statehood

Paris: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Friday welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron's announced intention to officially recognize the Palestinian statehood.

According to Kuwait News Agency, OIC's Secretary-General Hissein Taha highlighted this step as being aligned with international law and reflecting France's support for the Palestinian people's rights, including self-determination and an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem being its capital.

He emphasized that this announcement would contribute to enhancing Palestine's political and legal status on the international stage, while urging all countries that have not recognized Palestinian statehood to follow suit.

French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed on Thursday that Paris decided to officially recognize the Palestinian state in line with its commitment to achieving permanent and fair peace in the Middle East region.
