Doha: The Joint Arab-Islamic Emergency Summit convened on Monday in Doha, chaired by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, along with leaders of Arab and Islamic states. The summit aimed to address the repercussions of the Israeli occupation attack on Qatar, expressing full solidarity with the country.
According to Kuwait News Agency, at the summit's opening session, Hussein Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), thanked Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for hosting the summit and reiterated the OIC's support for Qatar amid the Israeli aggression on Doha. Taha highlighted the need for a unified response from Arab and Islamic states and pledged support for Qatar's measures to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability.
Taha urged the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council, to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for its actions and to ensure compliance with international law. He stated that the attack on Qatar is an extension of Israel's actions against the Palestinian people and their lands and holy sites, calling for increased efforts towards a ceasefire and humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip.
The Secretary-General also expressed the OIC's support for the outcomes of the International Conference on the Settlement of the Question of Palestine, advocating for the two-State solution. This includes enabling Palestinians to exercise their rights and establish a state within the 1967 borders with East Al-Quds as its capital. Taha emphasized that the summit's outcomes would strengthen Arab and Islamic solidarity with Qatar and unify efforts to confront current challenges.
